Experienced New Board Elected, and Other News from the May 2023 General Meeting

All officers and directors nominated at the May 21 General Meeting were elected by 33 adult members at the picnic. This was no surprise, as they are known quantities, most returning to their positions for years. However, Sylvan Ludewigt,

is a first-timer on the Board. Ken Howard, replacing Wayne Nelson as Building Committee/Design & Construction Director, lost no time in getting projects underway (see 2023 Work Party post). Julie Falk is taking on the role of Social Director, and Eric Martin, New Member Issues.

Subsequent to the meeting, Upski Editor Brian Buntz relinquished his role to Camille Watts-Zagha

and Shura Kretchetov, who will jointly compile the Upski this year (please send us all your photos and news).

Approximately 10 prospective adult members and several guests joined the picnic.

President Bernhard led the nearly two hour meeting. In addition to electing the board, the membership approved a 6 percent across-the-board increase to most rates and fees. As part of a carrot & stick approach to encouraging participation, the work party refundable charge increased to $225 per active adult member. The carrot includes a free stay and camaraderie (see the fun photos in the 2023 Work Party post). Membership Director Vicki reported the club has 90 active adult members, 35 active juniors, and 4 students. There are 150 applications for membership in the pipeline. Financial Secretary Juan reported we ended the fiscal year with slightly more spending than revenue, due to expensive roof snow removal and the water heater.

Social Director Julie organized the event, with former Board member (and former Upski Editor) Mary Jean Haley hosting at the Clarewood Clubhouse in Oakland. The 2023-24 Board is:
